Ngā Ratonga Tautoko works alongside schools, whānau, and young people across Whangārei and Kaipara to support regular attendance and positive engagement with learning.

Ngā Ratonga Tautoko is the local Attendance Service for Whangārei North and South, and Kaipara North and South.

The service is delivered by NorthAble and recognises that many people face a wide range of barriers that can affect wellbeing, connection, and participation in education. Ngā Ratonga Tautoko responds to this broader need through locally grounded, relationship-based support.

Stronger Relationships

When Nga Ratonga Tautoko works alongside schools and kura they are wanting to build stronger relationships to identify how each other can work to further benefit the young people who are experiencing problems due to absences from education. Creating these relationships will allow students to get wrap around support and establish trust at all levels needed.

Te Ako Manaaki Framework

Nga Ratonga Tautoko is guided by the Te Ako Manaaki Framework. This framework has 5 core elements, which use 5 core principles to create a collaborative practice that improves outcomes for young people.
